This sale is for an original 1896 FIRST EDITION of " IN MEMORIAM SEMPITERNAM " presented by the Confederate Memorial Literary Society. YOU'LL LOVE THIS BOOK!!

This book commemorates the Confederate Memorial Literary Society's formation and efforts to preserve the history of the Confederacy. Unable to cope with the loss, a small group of women operating as the Hollywood Memorial Association, began caring for the graves of lost Confederate soldiers. Wanting to do more, they grew their organization, holding fundraisers in an effort to improve the appearance of the graveyard, hold Annual Memorial Services, and, ultimately, convert Confederate President Davis' home into Memorial Hall. It was decided that each state in the Confederacy, as well as Richmond, should have its dedicated room to showcase their coat-of-arms, records, relics, and so on. This book offers information about each state's secession from the Union, it's contribution to their cause, and illustrated examples of what one might find exhibited at Memorial Hall.

Artifacts include the sword of Robert E. Lee, pieces from Confederate uniforms, flags, paintings, binoculars, and other effects. Published in 1896 , this book is in VERY GOOD CONDITION!!! For its age and especially to be 124 YEARS OLD!!! And tightly bound with NO TEARS!!! There are no stray in-text markings. This book measures 6 1/4" X 7 1/2" and is complete with 98 pages and a loose leaf letter from the Confederate Memorial Literary Society to United Confederate Veterans.
