A nice looking imported Eagle Head Mounted Artillery Officer's Sword. 30 1/2 curved blade is etched, blued, gold washed. The condition of the blade is very good with about 70% original blue toning to gray with etched scenes depicting scroll and panoplies of arms retaining about 85% original gold wash. The balance of the blade is bright silver patina with scattered fine oxidation staining. The brass eaglehead hilt has a single guard with downward quillion and dual langets, the front is decorated with a Federal eagle and shield and the reverse plain.
The brass has a pleasing dark brown patina, the ferrule a richer red. The grooved polished bone grip is wrapped in bordered braided brass wire and rates very good with a thin drying crack and light chipping at the ferrule and pommel. The saber comes in its original foliate-engraved brass scabbard. The scabbard is equipped with dual wide band hangers, oval throat and a low profile drag. The brass has an overall reddish-brown patina with scattered light tarnish.
