The other has some very small and minimal tears to the front calf area wrinkle area. All four striped cotton pulls are present. They are intact, strong and not fragile.
Each boot measures about 17 1/2 inches tall. The length of each foot is about 11 inches. Each is about 3 inches wide at the widest foot area. These boots were originally made for either foot, as was typical during the Civil War. From lots of use/breaking them in, each formed into a left and right.
They have square nail soles and are square toed. These are fancier than the norm. I don't have any provenance. The story I got from the woman I bought these from was that she got them from a family who found them in the attic along with a Confederate uniform.
The family kept the uniform. They are stiff and yet pliable.
They hold their shape and stand up on there own. That seems to confirm being in an attic.
There is no stuffing or support in the boots holding the shape. I took the paper stuffing out that was present, in hopes of finding more info, but did not.
