Of a department store box which is present but no longer fully attached. Many battles listed, some very obscure I cannot find a reference to. Brickton An historian's delight. Appears to be all hand-written in black ink.
Enlisted May 61 and mustered in U. Service June 3 61 as a private of Co C 38th Regt. Vol Inft to srve two years Regt un. Der Col Ward served in 2nd Brig 2nd Div 3rd. Corps and participated in the following.Battles: Bull Run, VA July 21, 61; Williams. Burg May 5 62; Fair Oaks May 31 62; Sev. En Days battle June 26 to July 2 62.
Run Aug 30 62; Chantilly Sep 1 62; Fred. Ericksburg Dec 13 62; Chancellorsville May. Was honorably discharged June 22 63. Re enlisted Sep 17 63 in Co. Tibbits served in 1st Brig.
And engaged at New Market, VA May 13-16 64. Piedmont June 5 64; Lynchburg June 18-19 64. Brickton July 3 64; Snickers Gap July 17 64. Ashbys Gap July 18-19 64; Winchester, July.24-25 64; White Post Dec 6, 7 64 and Mch. 22 65; Berryville, Ap 9 65. Render the Regt was ordered to the West and. Charged June 25 1866 at Denver, Colorado. This picture of the easel shaped monument bearing. The personal record of William Hanna was dedicated to. His memory Apr 1895 by his Wife Jane. Discharge document for William Hannan dated June 26, 1866. At Denver, Colorado Territory, signed by the Regt Col (name indecipherable to me), the paymaster (in red ink) n, and Thomas McDougall. Measures apx 8x11 and is flat with the evidence of having been folded in six. Tape reinforcement on the back, also one section of the back printed with standard form Oath of Identity, pencilled Claim number, and the name Hannan penciled faintly on the corner. Lastly, a superb Cartes-de-Visite photograph of 5 soldiers in full regalia with rifles. I assume one is Hanna, and I will also guess for the lack of a revenue stamp this was taken in Colorado, 1866. Any input on this guess is welcome. I have posted 12 photographs for your perusal.
