Published image of Lt Colonel Frank H Peck of New Haven Ct, who served with the 12th Connecticut Vols from 1/30/62-9/19/64. WIA Port Hudson on 5/28/63 and Killed in action at the Battle of Winchester on 9/19/64. Promoted to BBG for the date of his death. Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General.

He was appointed in February 1862 as Major of the 12th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, and served with the unit (commanding it on many occasions) in Union operations in Louisiana, and rendered exemplary service in the Siege of Port Hudson. In April 1864 the unit was transferred to Virginia, and Frank H. Peck was promoted to Colonel and official commander of the regiment. At the September 19, 1864 Third Battle of Winchester, Virginia, he was leading his regiment in a charge when he was mortally wounded, dying the next day. On July 24, 1868 he was posthumously brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers (back dated to the day of his mortal wounding) for conspicuous gallantry at Winchester, Va.
