Estate Vintage CIVIL War Artillery Short Sword Without Scabbard

ESTATE VINTAGE CIVIL WAR ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD WITHOUT SCABBARD. A piece of American history evaluated by the Antiques Road Show. Believed to have a replacement blade and there is damage to the hilt. The very top of the hilt looks to have been pounded down and a screw is missing.

A part of the screw appears to have fallen inside the hilt because a rattle is present when shook. The blade is 18 1/2 inches in length. The hilt is 5 1/4 inches long.

One side of the hilt is marked J. A stamp on the other side reads J.
