ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR M1840 US CALVARY SWORD & SCABBARD. This is an Original Civil War era M1840 Calvary Sword.

This sword is unmarked but it has been verified by many experts that it is 100% genuine Civil War era M1840. Many were unmarked and were imported during the War and widely used by Confederates. The leather handle wrap looks good for its age.

Nice patina on the blade, only minor nicks, it doesn't appear to have ever been sharpened. It has the number 48 on the guard (see pic). The guard is loose but still holds to the handle well.

The scabbard also has a nice patina, a couple of dents but the sword blade still slides in smoothly. I have had this sword authenticated by experts and it is 100% Genuine Civil War era.
