Post US Civil War Model 1860 GAR Sons of Veterans Staff & Field Sword withScabbard
Post US Civil War Model 1860 Sons of Veterans Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "Patch & Fellows", over "Boston, Mass". The fixed clamshell displays the "SV", rifles with bayonets, swords, and an anchor design. The grip is 99% complete and the twisted wire wrap is 100% complete and only slightly loose. The knuckle guard and grip do wiggle. The knuckle guard has a more copper than brass color like on the pommel cap but it doesn't look painted. The etched blade is bright and clean, it hasn't been sharpened, does have a few small nicks along the edges, and the tip is sharp.
The scabbard is solid with no dents, has a slight bend that is barely noticeable, it also has light age spots and minor surface rust scattered throughout. Length of the blade measures 30 1/8. (3/4" wide x 1/8" thick). Length of the sword is 35 11/16", and overall in the scabbard it is 36 3/16". Check out my other War items!!
