Model 1831 French Short Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is marked JEAN. " on one side and "L with a star over it within a rectangle on the other side. The crossguard has a "P" with a star over it within an oval.The brass guard is tight. The blade is straight, clean, and has not been sharpened but the tip is sharp. The leather scabbard is complete but has some surface loss scattered throughout, leather strap attached to hanger is still soft. Length of the blade measures 19 3/16", length of the sword is 25 1/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 26.
