This is a very nice example of a Musician Sword, Model 1840 and is "a classic" of the U. This particular one has survived in very good, original condition and is mounted with a blade that measures 28 1/4 inches in length. The blade wears the marking of the famous "Ames Mfg & Co" on one side of the ricasso and is dated U.

1862 on the other side and remains in very nice original polished condition with only one surface staining spot on one side. The brass hilt has an inspector's mark on the stirrup and remains in very nice original condition as well. The lovely leather scabbard also remains very healthy with all the stitching still tightly intact and its brass fittings have developed a beautiful rich aged patina. Overall measuring 35 3/8 inches in length.
