U. S. Civil War Staff and Field Officer Sword Model 1850

This is a good example of an untouched, uncleaned "Attic Condition" U. Civil War Staff and Field Officer's Sword, Model 1850. This particular one is mounted with an import blade that measures 32 1/2 inches in length which is lightly stained with surface pitting at the extreme tip, nevertheless all the lovely etching although a bit faded is still nicely present.

The brass guard is intricately detailed with floral pierced work and reflects battle fatigue with a deep rich aged patina now developed. The fishskin covered hilt is also a bit weathered however the original twisted wire wrap remains in place.

The metal scabbard is brass fitted and reflects battle fatigue as well, but does remain in good serviceable condition with a rich aged patina now developed as well. Overall measuring 39 3/4 inches in length.
