US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. " over "Dayton", and over "O. The guard, grip, and pommel cap have a bit of a wiggle. The grip shows little wear and is 95% complete, there are a couple chips to the wood up by the pommel cap area. The twisted wire is complete and tight.
The fixed clamshell has the typical eagle with flags on it. The etched blade is straight, unsharpened, a few extremely tiny nicks along a 1 section on one edge, very light scattered age spots throughout, and the tip is sharp. The scabbard is solid, no dents, light surface wear, the drag has a star on one side and "44" on the edge, that number can also be found above the throat screw and on both hanger mounts.
The washer is missing, under where it should be are the numbers "265". Length of the blade measures 30 3/16" (9/16" wide x 3/16" thick), length of the sword is 35 7/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 36 3/4.Check out my other War items!!
