The small button is maker marked Horstmann Bros & Co. Four of the closure buttons are marked Horstmann Philadelphia. The second button from the bottom is marked Horstmann Philada. The jacket is in good overall condition with surface wear to the felt especially to the front. The jacket appears to have been taken in in the back.
There is speckled mothing over the body of the coat with one bad spot on the right side collar, the back, and the bottom rear of the left arm. The exterior of the coat is made of a coarser dark blue wool felt. The back of the jacket features four panels and the front of the jacket has fold over stitching lines down the front. The sleeves have a rear main seal and a dedicated rear panel.
Inside the body of the jacket is linkedin a salt and pepper type dark blue coarse wool. Each breast has an interior pocket that is topped with the exterior felt material and the pockets are lined in a smooth brown cotton. The sleeves are lined in coarse white cotton. Interestingly there is a small bag with five original Horstmann cuff buttons in one of the pockets.The card is marked good regulation needs buttons 1-small 3-large. The back of the jacket is stamped in paint size 36. The other side of the inside of the jacket is stamped property of Buchholz Costumer Springfield Mass.
