For sale here is a wonderful Civil War Union Army Blanket. The construction differs slightly from the worn blanket. The blanket appear to be early regulation.

The letters US have not been hand stitched in the center of the blanket. I cannot see where it was ever stitched in. The blanket is a dark grey wool with black stripes to either end. The blanket has a few small holes, and shows very limited wear. The ends of the blanket have square and rounded corners with a zig zag stitch type stop. The edges of the blanket also have a zig zg stitch stop.

The blanket measures roughly 76.5" long by 54.5" wide. However, i could stretch it longer or stretch it a little less to measure, so consider this a good middle measurement. I weighed a box that weighed 13.7 ounces. The blanket in the box weighed 3 lbs 7.7 ounces.

That leaves the blanket at 2 pounds 10 ounces. This blanket shows very little wear and is much thicker as a result. I have read, researched, and asked as many questions as i can, and i believe this to be the early issue Union Army blanket, or a post warish American War Blanket. If this blanket is, in fact, later period, i will quickly revise the listing, but for now, i have it listed as a near mint Civil War Blanket. The letter with the guitar pouch was written to one of these gentlemen. This is an amazing piece that will be an amazing addition to any collection. You can shop with confidence.
