See the photos of this CSA soldier Melaineotype photograph on tin made in 1865 or before. Yet another fine piece from the Steve Folio Collection. A very desirable sixth plate in a Gutta Percha case that is almost perfect! The very young soldier, militia man, wears a high kepi, and an odd uniform with a stripe up the leg.

He holds a long rifle and has some kind of leather holster type affair with a roller buckle, etc. I'm guessing this fellow is from early 1861.
