
Found at a local estate recently. Remaining family member told me it was pre civil war era. 1830's from what they remember of the story passed down. Condition is fair to good.
Stitching is coming apart on top of flap. Leather itself is in nice condition for age. Story goes as I was told that B.
Was a ancestor that came to the Americas and practiced medicine around early to mid 1800's. Family told me that he was related to the first case of measles and mumps. Also history with the rubella vaccine. Very interesting piece of America's history. Who knows what history making documents were inside over the years or who touched it.
This very well could have traveled around America at the time of the civil war. Rare piece of history here. Any other question's or concern's just ask.
