On September 22nd, 1863, James Andersen (Co E, 8th Ohio Volunteers) wrote-devoid of punctuation-to a friend from a picket near the Rapidan river, Virginia:. " Promises to "wright a decent letter once they get to camp. Concludes with Give my Respects to all.

Signed and pencil written on 9 ¾"x 7 ¾" ruled ivory, laid paper. Condition: Mailing fold lines and a few scattered spots.
