1864 Civil War Court Marshal Document George H. Bean Allen Blacker

1864 Civil War Court Marshal Document George H. This document is one of a few I have from George H. This is the official Court Marshall document stating all officers assigned as detail for the hearing.

Crittenden, Major V P Van Antwerp, Capt W A Keyser, Major WM Markham, Capt E E Allen, 2nd Lt A G Clarke, Major Allen Blacker (judge). Bean was a 1st Lt of the 68th US Colored Troop Regiment. Bean was captured by the Confederacy.

While captured, his superiors considered him to have abandon to the other side and initiated court marshal. Once they learned of his capture, they arranged a prisoner swap and reinstated him to his original rank. Shortly after, he retired from the military.
