The blade length is approximately 33 1/2 inches. The handle length from the guard is just over 5 inches. This ID can be confirmed in Peterson's book, The American Sword #86, pages 96&97. It is, therefore, a post Civil War saber. They were regulation for American Cavalry officers from 1862 until about 1905 when some changes were made in regulation cavalry sabers.
