3 EVENING POST NY FEB. 1861 Eve Of Civil War Newspapers
For sale are three original copies of The Evening Post, semi-weekly New York newspapers from February 1861. The papers are four sides and are full of pre war news. Some of the articles are: Feb. 16, 1861 - The election declared (Lincoln and Hamlin) - Inauguration of President Jefferson Davis - The political troubles, their cause and remedy - South Carolina, Charleston, Fort Sumter, Maj. 23, 1861 - Opinion in the border states - Mr. Lincoln in New York - South Carolina, Will Fort Sumter be attacked - The peace confrence at Washington - Feb. 27, 1861 - The treason of Gen. Twiggs = Stevens floating battery - The last seizures at Savannah - Mr. Sewards position and policy, Mr. Lincolns feelings - Troubles of the new Confederacy - Mr. Edwin Booth's Othello along with many other pieces. The papers are in good condition for the most part and are still very readable. Each paper has various fold from storage. Pages measure 22" x 15 3/4".
