ALL ORIGINAL IN UNTOUCHED CONDITION. NORTH CAROLINA JOINED THE CONFEDERACY ON MAY 20 1861. IT WAS THE SECOND TO LAST STATE TO LEAVE THE UNION. ONE OF THE RAREST AMES SWORDS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE SOUTHERN STATES.

THIS ONE IS A MUST HAVE. North Carolina M1833 Dragoon saber - dated 1837. A scarce dragoon saber made under contract for North Carolina in 1837.

Ames Cutler Year: 1837 Model: M 1833 Dragoon Size: 33.6 inch blade Condition. Considered a Confederate saber (one that was made for the southern states and there at the outbreak of the civil war). This is a standard 1833 dragoon saber with United Stated needle etched on the blade along with the maker and date: N. Ames / Cutler / Springfield / 1837.

The quillon is inspected WS and state acceptance stamp of NC. The drag is stamped H. The grip is leather covered with dragoon twist wire.
