You are viewing an Original, Antique 1820s-40s US Infantry Officer Sword. Overall, sword is in fair + condition. Blade is good and shows beautiful etching on both sides. The checkered grip is very nice. As pictured the guard is broken and bent.

Overall sword retains around 35% gold finish. Scabbard has a few minor dents and is rusted. This sword could absolutely be restored by a professional or talented amateur swordsmith by welding a new piece into the guard. Reasonably simple fix, or if you favor historical accuracy, leave it as is. Item Size: Length in scabbard 37 1/2. Country or Region : United States of America (USA). Marcel Gibrat (Pictured working on a Greek Kylyx in the 1970s), my grandfather, was a Restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and later owned a Madison Avenue Restoration Studio and Art Gallery one block from the Guggenheim Museum.
