Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Antique Civil War Era 9th Plate Tintype Photo Man Hand Tinted Gutta Percha Case. DESCRIPTION Antique hand colored gentleman cased tintype. The portrait depicts a young man in evening attire with colored brass buttons. The mat and preserver are both in good condition as is the soft blue velvet cushioning on the opposite side.

The picture is dated January 20th 1862. The gutta percha hard case has acanthus and geometric designs throughout and snaps shut tightly. The daguerrotype case has original A W Peters gallery label, from Beloit, Rock county Wisconsin. This would make a great addition to your rare photographs or civil war collection. MEASUREMENTS: Framed tintype measures 3" long by 2.5" wide by 1 deep and weighs 3.2oz.
