Antique EMERSON & SILVER CLAUBERG US Civil War Cavalry Saber Sword Edged Weapon. Today we are excited to offer for sale a rare, antique Civil War Emerson & Silver saber sword! Emerson and Silver of Trenton, NJ, was a company that made a brief appearance during the Civil War.
The artillery sabers are mounted with blades similar to the cavalry sabers. The company only used two stamp styles for its swords federal government contracts. The long 31-3/4 carbon steel blade of this saber was manufactured by Clauberg Solingen of Prussia (now Germany). The blade remains unsharpened and shows no significant edge wear or damage.Many of the finest Civil War presentation sword blades originated from Clauberg. This large and substantial saber sword is finely and intricately crafted and detailed. The long blade features ornate etched floral detailing borders, on one side between the floral borders is an American Flag draped around an American Flag shield and two drums; the opposite side features the monogram U. The blade is marked on one side W.
Clauberg Solingen" and on the opposite side "Emerson & Silver Trenton. The saber features an ornate grip which is finely crafted of bronze. The guard features a floral ornate design and extends to form a handle connected to the pommel.
The pommel's back features a neoclassical laurel motif. The grip features a textured design interspersed with bronze rope motif. Saber presents well and is in good antique condition, with only minor wear, tarnishing and patina commensurate with age. An authentic New England attic find that will make an outstanding and wonderful addition to any fine collection of antique American Civil War military memorabilia.Dimensions: 37-1/2" in length, 4-1/4" in width, 2-3/4 in depth.
