Antique Old Civil War 1861 Trench Art Primitive American Folk Art Wood Figure

This is an unusual and intriguing Antique Old Civil War Trench Art Primitive American Folk Art Wood Figure, depicting an overweight and armless man, with short wavy hair, and a stoic and serious facial expression. This figure was acquired from a substantial Civil War relic collection, and was described to me as whittled Civil War trench art.

I have no other background information about this piece, but it is carved from a small piece of lightweight wood, and certainly exhibits the proper age, with scuffs, wear and age-related patination throughout please see photos. Approximately 5 1/2 inches tall x 1 3/4 inches wide. Just to clarify, the arms are not "missing, " this artwork was purposely carved without arms please review photos carefully. I have seen several pieces of whittled folk art created at Andersonville Prison, Georgia by Union soldiers, and I suspect that this item might be one of them.
