Authentic Civil War Cavalry Saber 1862 Ames Sword Chicopee, A. This sword is stamped U. 1862 on one side of the ricasso and Ames Mfg. Co, Chicopee Massachusetts on the other side.

The pommel is also marked ADK. The inspector was Andrew D. King (as far as my research can tell). The blade measures 35" long and the handle is 6" for a total length of 41.

There's no other serial or stock number that i could find, so i don't know if that means that this is part of the first 800 that were issued before they started giving them to enlisted soldiers. There is no scabbard with this. Any more knowledge on the sword would be appreciated : I'm not in a rush to sell this, it came from my grandpa's collection, and I'll be happy to have it forever.
