BEAUTIFUL CIVIL WAR OR EARLIER NEGELEIN DOMED BRASS COMPASS EXC withGREAT PATINA

A Beautiful Civil War or Earlier Negelein Dome Top Brass Compass in excellent condition. An internet search for the Negelein company places them in Germany and this style would date it to probably between 1800 and 1850. Since the face says "West" instead of OW, this compass was made for export to English speaking countries. The Negelein name is small but clear and printed on the surround above the North marking.
