Civil War 1862 Selma Arsenal ammunition box crate dowel lid. Lid has the following stenciled in black "1000" Cart. 57 or 58 Elongated Ball Selma Arsenal 1862.

The sides of the box are also stenciled with the ammunition type. The lid is secured with "wood pins" or "dowels" placed near the corners of the box and holes in the lid.

One of the dowels is missing. There are many photos of this so I will let them speak for me. I can absolutely assure you this is authentic.
