Original Civil War-era letter dated July 4, 1864, issued from the Office of the Committee on Labor, Income and Revenue, Philadelphia. This historically significant two-page letter was addressed to Mrs. Edwin Webster, Chairman of the Department of Labor and Income for the U. Sanitary Commission, acknowledging and praising her efforts in support of wounded soldiers and sailors during the Civil War. The letter discusses the success of fundraising and humanitarian efforts and recognizes the importance of civilian support during the war. It is written on official letterhead and includes original period handwriting and signatures. Format: Two (2) original paper pages. Condition: Very good antique condition with age-appropriate wear.
