An Original Civil War Letter from Archy. Cook at Washington, DC June 8, 1863 to his brother "Nathan C Cook Noblestown, Allegheny County, Penna"- he writes that the, city is dusty but pleasant at this time, anxious to get away from the City as he believes it will do him good.

He reports on gardening his strawberries etc in Washington, and he can't yet report on the expected good news from Vicksburg- he expects General Grant will fetch the Rebels soon. There is nothing from the Army of the Potomac but expects they will make a forward movement soon. He hopes to come home this summer to held with the harvest but expect his leave will be short.
