Decent intact leather coverings on the barrels. Paris is marked on both eyepieces.

They were a importer of fine optics during the American civil war. They produced a variety of optical apparatus, in the 1890s they even produced racing bicycles!

During the 1850s and 1860s they produced tfield glasses for the American market. Thousands of these saw service during the American civil war (both north and south).

The French term for binoculars is'jumelles' or twin girls. Their field glasses were used by the soldiers from both the north and south during the war between the states.

These are NOT the commonly seen post war' opra glasses. These have the sliding' sun shades' on the front lens barrels.. Indicative of true civil war era field glasses. With a gutta-percha adjusting wheel. The exposed brass have a blackened' Japanned finish.

The leather coverings are in good condition. Excellent condition for being over a. The adjusting wheel works flawlessly.
