
Middletown, Virginia was the location of the Battle of Cedar Creek October, 1864. A month later skirmishing was ongoing in the vicinity of Midddletown.
An Original Civil War Special Order issued March 8, 1865 at Washington discharging Captain Michael McMullin, 22nd New York Cavalry for disability from "wounds received in action". Comes w service info showing Captain McMullen as being Wounded in Action at Middletown, Va 11/12/1864. Along with a number of his men. This Official War Department Order is issued and ink signed by Colonel ED Townsend on both front and back pages, with an added August, 1865 seal by Paymaster John A Sabin attesting that Captain McMullin was paid in full, and is also red ink signed signed by Paymaster John Adams Sabin on the reverse. Additionally the 1865 Order is stamped and signed after the War confirming Captain McMullin's accounts are correct.
