Civil War Concentric Ring BULLS EYE Tin Canteen w Stopper & Rope Strap SIGNED

Civil War Concentric Ring BULLS EYE Tin Canteen w Stopper & Rope Strap SIGNED. Here is a Civil War era canteen in "as found" condition. It has concentric rings in what I have learned from my research is known as a "bulls eye" pattern. For a canteen of this age, it's actually in pretty good condition and luckily has the stopper. The spout or top where the lid goes is marked, but is not legible.

I found one online that is nearly identical with a mark reading. HALL ROHRMAN PHILA (for Joseph Hall Rohrman). The hooks or loops that the rope goes through are intact. Almost all the other canteens that I found to be similar had leather straps.

Most of his war items are dug that he found on his own properties and from neighbors that gave him permission over the years. He remembers that he found this canteen during the time he lived in Lake of the Woods, it had to have been inside a building, because it still has most of a rope strap and even part of the cord that acted as a "safety" for the stopper / lid. Size is about 7.5 across. If measuring from bottom to the top loop on the stopper is about 10. He has always had a keen interest in the Great Rebellion, having lived close to two battlefields Gettysburg and the Wilderness / Chancellorsville Spotsylvania / Orange Co VA.

We are not experts in Civil War items, so please use the photos as your best guide and we will gladly answer any questions that you have. I have researched his items for many hours.

Please review the photos, as always they are the best description. You can always meet us for local pick-up and we can deliver to some areas. The Post Office has been BRUTAL lately so we are having to do OVERKILL packaging to prevent destruction. I will send you an invoice.
