This discharge letter has several different colors of ink on it and no significant tears or missing pieces, though it had been folded and is creased. Found in a binder of ephemera from a person focused on Altoona PA documents, not authenticated but all appear to be genuine.

This document is a Civil War discharge paper for James H. Shannon, a Private in Company A of the 8th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was enrolled on the 10th day of September, 1861, and discharged from service on the 20th day of February, 1863, at Camp Near Falmouth, Virginia, due to disability or surgeon's certificate.
