An OriginaL Civil War Letter from 2 brothers, Robert N Perfect and Joshua Hickman Perfect, who both died in the War. The letterhead shows a striking large deep blue color American Eagle and US flag w caption "The Stars and Stripes Unconditionally", to their Father with news that they are well, and asks if Father has heard from Jake since he left home. The 2pp letter ends with "Remain your son til Death", signed "RN Perfect JH Perfect" and dated below "August the 23, 1863". Civil War Private Joshua H Perfect of Monticello, White County, Indiana joined the 46th Indiana August 1861 age 18 and served to 1864, then re-enlisted with the 11th Indiana early 1864, and died from disease August, 1864. The Private is buried at Chalmette National Cemetery, Chalmette, Louisiana, after taking part in the Siege of Vicksburg and the Battles of Mansfield & Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, where soon after he took sick and died of fever.

Joshua's brother Robert enlisted in early 1864 and served w the 11th Indiana Cavalry and died 3 months later at Kendallville, Indiana. 2pp 8 x 5:" pencil, w minor stains, folds, and comes with the postal cover addressed to "Mr J. Perfect, Wolcott Stn, White County, Ind. Comes w service info for 2 brothers who died for their beliefs, not an uncommon occurrence in the War. General Orders and other imprints.
