CIVIL War M1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword Sauerbier W Presentation Scabbard

AMERICAN CIVIL WAR M1850 STAFF & FIELD HIGH OFFICER'S OR GENERAL SWORD SAUERBIER WITH PRESENTATION SCABBARD AND MOTHER OF PEARL INLAYS. M 1850 Staff and Field. Fine sword by a great maker. Henry Sauerbier of Newark New Jersey. You know this is a CW sword as he only made swords during the Civl War and this was carried by the wear in the rings.

Guard is standard Staff and field vrsion with cast US but is a higher grade version with great casting, a lot of hand chasing on the outside guard, knuckle bow and also mother of pearl inserts in the pommel cap and flat of the pommel. Grip is ray skin, Sauerbier primary used leather in officer swords and finding a sword with a sharskin grip is actually quite rare, finding one with ray skin is almost impossible.. Pinked washer is present and the screw holding the knucklebow into the pommel is present.

Both Sauerbier traits that point to Sauerbiers work without his name etched on the blade.
