CIVIL War Medical Arm Splint Maker Marked

Day of Bennington, Vermont patented a variety of medical splints during the Civil War. An Oiginial Civil War era arm splint used to keen an arm wrapped and immobile while healing. The Arm Splint is approx 16 " long, and 3" wide, shaped to the inner arm of a man.

The maple wood splint still has approx 90% of it's original varnish finish and a short leather strip near each end. M Day splints are pictured in varilous Civil War collector reference books incl "Civil War Medical Instruments & Equipment", Warman's "Civil War Collectibles", and have been on exhibit at the Bentonville, North Carolina, Battlefield Musuem. A Pennsylvania Infantry Surgeon's splint from the Vicksburg Campaign was also on display at the Sigal Museum in Easton, Pennsylvania. Minor wear, age stains, Overall VG. NOTE: Any repair to a paper item is listed.
