The maple wood splint still has approx 90% of it's original varnish finish and a short leather strip near each end. M Day splints are pictured in varilous Civil War collector reference books incl "Civil War Medical Instruments & Equipment", Warman's "Civil War Collectibles", and have been on exhibit at the Bentonville, North Carolina, Battlefield Musuem. A Pennsylvania Infantry Surgeon's splint from the Vicksburg Campaign was also on display at the Sigal Museum in Easton, Pennsylvania. Minor wear, age stains, Overall VG.
