Civil War United States of America Navy Department Commission custom framed document dated, October 13, 1863. In excellent condition, this very fine Civil War era Naval Commission is presented to Midshipman Daniel Deleharity Vincent Stuart that reads as follows: By direction of the President of the United States you are hereby appointed to the grade of Midshipman in the United States Navy from the 23rd day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty three. Given under my hand and seal of the Navy Department at the City of Washington this 13th day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty three signed, Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy. In the sleeve is the Certificate of Authenticity from the American Historical Guild that authenticates this Civil War era document to be authentic. The document itself measures: nine inches wide by thirteen inches high.
The custom wood frame with document measures: fifteen and one-half inches in width and twenty inches in height. The depth of the frame is approximately: one and one-half inches. This beautiful museum quality document has been in my collection for almost 25 years and will make a wonderful collectible for the Civil War enthusiast.
