Civil War Relic Clay Medallion The Mine Petersburg Virginia Abraham Lincoln

Interesting Clay Medallion with a bust of Abraham Lincoln in the center. 2 3/8" dia - 1/4" thick. Period note on the back reads, Clay from "The Mine" at Petersburg, VA C. 6/1866 - Note - The mine was an excavation caused by the blowing up of a large "rebel" earth work, by Grant's forces in 1865.

Likely made by a person living near the battlefield after the war. They used a Lincoln badge to make the image. Any questions feel free to ask.
