The letter begins "Julians Creek VA August 8 1863" to his Mother- he writes that he is in good health, asks she not send him a box until she hears from him. He also asks if "Savber" Sabrina? Has any such stories told about her -"if there is any truth in them I shall make short work with her", but Sayber doesn't know how Lydia is carrying on. He says if this war goes on two years more there should not be any (not) killed and that the women would not have.
