Civil War Staff and Field Officer Sword Saber Model 1850 Very Nice Etched Blade

This is a very nice example of an U. Civil War Staff and Field Officer's Sword, Model 1850.

It is mounted with a beautifully etched import blade that measures 30 inches in length that is nicely inscribed along the spine "Manufacture de Klingenthal Coulaux". The blade remains very nice in its condition and continues to wear all of the lovely bright and frost etching on either side with only very light minor surface staining. The wonderfully detailed guard features gorgeous cut out designs which includes "US" and has now richly patined with age. The fishskin wrapped hilt reflects minor wear with an aged split but does remain very sturdy in its condition and with its twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The metal scabbard is nicely brass fitted and also remains in very nice serviceable condition with only a couple of small working dings.
