CIVIL War Staff & Field Officers Sword

Beautifully mellowed Civil War Staff & Field Officer's Sword. Exhibits significant signs of field wear. Minor dings and dents exude character. Gold gild is worn in raised areas, but retains prolific amounts in the recessed areas. Patina is rich with copper leeching in areas.

Scabbard is original to the sword. The blade is disc marked as "Proved" on tang and "Iron Proof" on spine. Adjacent side of the tang is Clauberg marked with standing Knight. Blade is spotted, but retains most of its original polish.

Standard Clauberg etching adorns the blade with spread winged eagle on "E Pluribus Unum" motto on one side; and "US" on the other. Etching on the blade is framed in frosted panel, which has survived well. Grip retains original triple wire which is tight; and complete. Sharkskin is just beautifully aged; and complete. Simply a wonderful Civil War Staff & Field Officer's Sword.
