Civil War Sutler Coin Silver Badge, One Heart, One Way Engraved Motto, T Bar

Offered here is what I believe to be a Civil War, sutler made coin silver badge, bearing the motto "One Heart, One Way". There is a layered heart engraved in the lower center of the shield with the letter "S" in the upper left and the letter "F" in the upper right, adjacent to the heart.

Between the upper and lower sections of the shield, there is a band that has a crude design through it or possibly there may have been something scratched out. The badge measures just a hair over 7/8 inch, both ways.

I have been of the belief that this was a religious ID badge for a Civil War soldier, maybe with a Methodist or Quaker connection. Since military service was an issue for some religious factions in the 1860's, I thought there may have been a name that was removed after the war. Outside of that, I have no idea what this may represent, but it certainly appears to be of the period. The reverse has a T bar style pin and open catch, no markings.
