CIVIL War U. S. Artillery Captain's Shoulder Straps Matched Pair

This is an extremely fine pair of Civil War Captain of Artillery Shoulder Straps that are in excellent condition. They are constructed of hand embroidered metallic gold bullion thread borders and rank bars on a red wool base, all sewn to Navy blue wool underlays. Both the borders and the rank bars are edged in twisted gold bullion wire. This pair is with a single border that features a diagonal weave.

The reverse side is faced with navy blue wool that covers the internal stiffener. The gold bullion is with a dark age toned patina and the red wool is completely undamaged as are the navy-blue underlays.

Displays evidence of having been on a uniform. The pair remains a prime example in excellent, undamaged condition.
