Civil War US Pattern 1858 Canteen Smooth Side Style with Wool Cover & Canvas Sling

Civil War Era Cavalry US Pattern 1858 Canteen - Early Smooth Side Style, Wool Fabric Covered w/Canvas Strap - Nice Condition. The canteen has the coarse brown wool cover wth the three sling guides on the edge. The canteen has the mounted canvas strap, indicating it was for cavalry use. The canvas sling is broken and has several fray areas.

The canteen is the early Smooth Side Version. The canteen is used, see Photo's for Condition.

You can feel a few small dents in the canteen, through the cover. It has the neck and original cork and chain. The cork chain attaches to a hole in one of the sling loops.

The fabric cover has a portion along the rear seam that is missing, No seam separations or fraying. All things considered, for being 150+ years old, it is in Nice shape for historic display purposes.
