


The Muster Roll lists the movements of the Company including Light House Landing, Va, Gisboro, DC, Frederick City, Maryland and Knoxville, Maryland, naming 30 or more troopers, with comments that some are "missing in action, captured by the enemy near White House Landing", also names men discharged from the hospital at City Point, Va, men on detached duty at General Sheridan's HQ, discharged at Carlisle Barracks, etc. The The muster roll is 31 x 21, ptd/ink, with acid free archival repairs at the folds, edge wear, age stains, Overall Fair Condition. Ira Wallace Claflin was a notable 6th US Cavalry officer.
Early in the War he fought at the battle of Glorietta Pass, New Mexico, but is best remembered as the Captain who took command of the 6th US Cavalry at the Battle of Fairfield during the Gettysburg Campaign, when the 6th stood at Fairfield against 2 brigades of JEB Stuart' Cavalry - despite its being decimated the 6th prevented the Confederate Cavalry from attacking the Union Rear. Days later Captain Claflin again fought at Funkstown, Maryland where he was severely wounded, but survived to command the unit in the Battle of Yellow Tavern. Captain Claflin served to 1865, and died young, of yellow fever on the Texas Frontier in 1867. General Orders and other imprints.
