This is a great chance to own a piece of Colt/Civil War history that was used in the field and not left in a case to be looked at. It could have been used by US or CS soldiers and is definitely a piece that could tell stories! The two bullets were cast from this mold and will also be included. This bullet mold has been inspected for functionality and lightly lubricated with a professional gun oil on the hinges, moving parts, and screw. I do not see any evidence of markings/stamps on either side of the mold block i.
36P, but the Colt book notes that not all examples will have it due to the variations. I do not believe this is the Colt Root style.
31 bullet mold because of the unique leg style exhibited in those examples. For this mold Im not sure if the leg curvatures are original factory or done by a soldier in the field. Please note the book picture is for reference and is not included.
Note that there is a Colts Patent stamp across the sprue, as standard for colt tools! The pictures are of exactly what youll receive. The Colts Patent headstamp is hard to discern in the pictures but it is visible in person. Any questions please just ask. This civil war era bullet mold would make a great gift for the collector of reloading antiques, rare reloading tools, or Colt bullet molds!
