Early Antique M1832 Foot Officer's Sword & Scab, Nice Decorator, Civil War, GIFT
Nice EARLY Foot Officer's Sword & Scabbard, Mexican War or Civil War Use. Nice, original FULL LENGTH, COMPLETE foot officer's sword & Scabbard. I have included a variety of photos for you. Appears to be an early one, possibly c1830, but very likely Mexican War and Civil War use. Nice to find a complete early sword like this in fairly decent shape. Hilt is in EXCELLENT condition, with COMPLETE & INTACT shark skin and twisted brass wire wrap. Nice floral motif cast into the brass handle. Blade fairly clean and bright. STILL HAS the original leather "bumper" at the top of the blade, adjacent to the bottom of the hilt. Steel scabbard is still with it. Often they became separated over the many years since then.

Has both rings, which helps with hanging or even use. The one flaw is that about 3 of the outer curved brass hand protector on the handle has broken off. Appears from the appearance and look that it happened many years ago, possibly during use during the Civil War. Doesn't really detract from a sword this early and IT STILL HAS A GREAT LOOK. REALLY NICE AGED BRASS PATINA TO THE HILT AND HANDLE.

FULL LENGTH BLADE, WITH NO BREAKAGE. Would make a great addition to ANY SWORD OR CIVIL WAR COLLECTION OR DISPLAY.

IT WOULD ALSO MAKE A GREAT DECORATOR ON A WALL, OVER A FIREPLACE, ETC. In a living room, family room, Man Cave, or office, etc. Even for a non-sword or non-Civil War collector, it still MAKES A GREAT EARLY ANTIQUE MILITARY DECORATOR FOR ANYONE!!

Blade measures 35 1/2" long, while sword measures about 41" overall. No markings that I can find. However, has really nice design etched on the top half or so of the blade. Has a great early look.
