Early U. S. Civil War Cavalry Sword Model 1860 dated 1859 By Ames

TO SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS PLEASE SCROLL DOWN BELOW DESCIPTION. This is a good example of an Early Ames Manufacture U. Civil War Cavalry Sword Model 1860. This particular one is dated 1859. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 35 inches in length that remains in good condition with only some minor surface staining. The blade is marked on one side U. And just beneath although faded, "1859" can still be partially be made out.

On the other side of the blade the "AMES" marking is still clearly present. The brass guard remains nice and sturdy with a lovely aged patina now developed and the wooden hilt tightly secure but with the leather covering now worn away with time. The metal scabbard has one very tiny ding otherwise remains very nice in its condition. Overall measuring 42 5/8 inches in length.
