Mid 17th Century English Civil War Period Lobster Pot belly Zischagge Helmet!! This is an original 1600s war helmet used in the ecw!! It shows signs of age but overall condition is very good! It is just amazing they still exist! The history on it is my sellers grand father gave the helmet to her father. He had a sticker on the bottom saying he bought it. In Europe during the war! I have had a local military collector verify that is real! It is really rare to find it in the u. This was from a customer. I have collected them for decades. Yes, yours appears to be authentic as far as photos can show. This style of helmet was made in Holland and Germany about 1625 and used in the'Thirty Years War' on continental Europe. Does it have any marks stamped into the peak visor, the tail or on the underside?

Sometimes they do, sometimes not. Ones that survived in England often have the Crown and IR mark of James II stamped on them, signifying they were in the Tower arsenal by the 1680s. James II had his mark stamped on everything in the Tower. But this type of helmet predates the ECW period but was used commonly in the UK during the civil war. ALSO WE DO NOT MARK PACKAGES AS GIFTS.
